The event was be held in Tirana (ALBANIA).

The meeting refers to project activity C.3, Deliverable C.3.2. The event was organized by the Institute of Transport and aimed discussing the economic role and impact of COVID-19 situation in Intermodal Transport areas in our country and in the region.

Part of the discussion were the themes of:

• Supporting the development of environmentally friendly and sustainable intermodal transport in the region. Presented by Msc. Eneida Elezi, Albanian Railways
• Economic factors in the field of transport and logistics and COVID 19 Impact.
Presented by Prof.as.Dr. Mateo Spaho, University of “LUARASI”
• Development and implementation of technological solutions in intermodal transport.
Presented by Ms. Pervin Pasholli, Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure.

After the presentation the panel discussed on the immediate soft measures that should be implemented to mitigate the COVID-19 and future crisis impacts. This discussion confirmed that especially in times of economic crisis it is necessary to invest in logistics to reduce transport costs, delivery times and to make the country more easily developed. Only through a well-maintained logistics sector will operators and companies be able to choose the means of transport that are most functional to them, combining them to obtain lower prices and less time spent in transport. The results will arrive in the medium and long term for the state coffers but the competitiveness of the country in the international markets will be resilient and lasting.

In the afternoon session the Institute of Transport staff presented the new logistics development measures foreseen in several ongoing AIT projects like:

• New information exchange platform: ISACC Project
• Electro-mobility Developments: ENERNETMOB Project
• Be part of the circle: INCIRCLE Project
• New logistics developments: EFINTIS Project

After further discussion on the measures and the meeting was concluded on the basis that all involved stakeholders, private and public institution, need to further invest in all logistics and digitalization to enforce the growth of intermodal transport in the Albanian territory.
